SEMIOTICS

Semiotics means by my knowledge of my understanding, icons and symbols which signifiers what I see and the concept of it. Researching online on google semiotics means signs and symbols www.aber.ac.uk/media/Documents/S4B/sem02.html

Signs to SIGNIER-WHAT I SEE
SIGNIFIER – WHAT IT MEAN- THE CONCEPT OR THE IDENITY
For example:  ICON THE CROSS
Signifier:  God the father, holy sprit and Jesus Christ,

This cross symbolise the resurrection of Jesus Christ ands it also recalls the story of Jesus Christ who died for our sins. This symbol shows the concept and also this symbol is also a icon none world wide it shows hope, love, faith and trust looking at other religious symbols they  all have  simulates to there concept. In this day and age the world has lots of people who are either Atheist or other groups against Christianity, they  have there own views and Dislikes about  this symbol which could be related to racisim, evil groups or other organisations their actions towards the cross and religion could have a positive outcome or a negative  .As a  Christian myself I believe that  god gave us the free will to do what we please and for people who don’t believe in  God , they should have the free will to follow God or not .

 Identity

Identity (Race and Gender)-
Racial Stereotype Towards People of colour

Racism

RACISIM has always been a serious topic for centuries because of the slavery between the black and white community, being segregated causing some serious stereotype to the black community which caused war between two race. With racism I say why don’t we just live as one big happy family and stop with the racism we all as one, But I no the world is not as perfect as everyone thinks it would
take a big miracle to change people mindset.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1388313/LSE-psychologist-Satoshi-Kanazawa-claims-black-women-attractive.htm

Couldn’t believe LAST WEEK NEWS   sparked outrage after claiming black women are less
attractive than white women.
Psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa has come with a string of crazy reasons to try to back up his study.
But celebrity babes such as Halle Berry, 44, Beyoncé, 29, Naomi Campbell, 40, Tyra Banks, 37, and Kelly Rowland, 30, all prove his study wrong. To be the most attractive females of all 21st century
Kanazawa, from the London School of Economics, published his theories in a blog post on Psychology
He claims his results show that “black women are far less attractive than white, Asian, and Native American women”.
The scientist adds: “Because they have existed much longer in human evolutionary history, Africans have more mutations in their genomes.”
But he reckons black men are more attractive than other races. Looking at this article made me very angry giving us black women another stereotype of black ladies psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa had know right it made me feel his being raciest toward black women singling them out not even mentioning other race.

 MODERINISM AND POSTMODERNISM

Quote by Francois de la Rochefoucaud

A work can become modern only if it is first postmodern. Postmodernism thus understood is not modernism at its end but in the nascent state, and this state is constant.

MY understanding  to modernism, and postmodernism, is like pop art made simple in a modern form such as Artist Jeff koon he uses a technique to modify humans though using the plants and flowers art pieces of

A NORMAL PUPPY USING FLOWERS

and his other art pieces of collage of modernism pop art looking at the terms of postmodernism and modernism I both consider them as two aspects of the same movement, both highlight different approach to  different aspects of life.

Postmodernism – means, 'after the modern’.

The developments in society, the economy and the culture of the 1960s were impacted by postmodernism.

Modernism- based on using rational, logical means to gain knowledge while postmodernism denied the application of logical thinking.

ABC logo by Paul Rand

“Should a logo be self-explanatory? It is only by association with a product, a service, a business, or a corporation that a logo takes on any real meaning. It derives its meaning and usefulness from the quality of that which it symbolizes. If a company is second rate, the logo will eventually be perceived as second rate. It is foolhardy to believe that a logo will do its job immediately, before an audience has been properly conditioned.”

Educated at the Pratt Institute for over for years,He was one of the originators of the swiss Style of graphic design .

Then attend the Parsons School of Design for only a year. Early twenties Paul Rand was designing work that appeal to the designing industry world wide, He designed for cover magazines. "Among these young Americans it seems to be that Paul Rand is one of the best and most capable [. . .] He is a painter, lecturer, industrial designer, [and] advertising artist who draws his knowledge and creativeness from the resources of this country. He is an idealist and a realist, using the language of the poet and business man. He thinks in terms of need and function. He is able to analyze his problems but his fantasy is boundless."

Patrick Caulfield
Based his work on the pop art movement his paintings often portraying a few simple objects in an interior typically, he uses flat areas of simple surrounded by black outlines. Some of his works are dominated by a single hue. After Lunch 1975 two images contrasting together I like the way the photomural, of the chateau de chill looks realistic .The view cant help bout pay more attention to the image, it contains so much detail almost giving me the feeling that there’s a whole new world outside the restaurant.
